Field Trips / Blockbusters / Rendezvous
June 11-12 (Wed.-Thurs.):
Breeding bird and butterfly survey in Coulson Gulch. Camp in lovely Coulson
Gulch,
northwest of Lyons, while working on eco-steward and Breeding Bird Atlas
surveys. Contact

to reserve a spot.
June 20-22 (Fri.-Sun.): Ripple Creek priority block, White
River National forest, Blanco District. Camp at Hines Park
and enjoy atlasing in the mountains. The Ripple Creek block includes a variety of habitat types, including
riparian, spruce/fir, open water, and burned areas. Contact Mary Cunningham for information.
June 20-22 (Fri.-Sun.): San Luis Valley, Rio Grande National Forest. Camp in the Saguache block and atlas the
foothills of the Rio Grande National Forest in the northern San Luis Valley. Day trips may also include
atlasing at Alamosa and Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuges and Great Sand Dunes National Park.

June 26-29 (Thurs.-Sun.): California Park, Routt National
Forest. Training day will be June 27, with blockbusting on
June 28 and 29. California Park is located approximately 20 miles north of Hayden, Colorado. This event
is
reserved for volunteers in Regions 1, 2, and 11. Contact

Skorkowsky for information.
July 18-20 (Fri.-Sun.): Hinsdale and Saguache Counties (Region
8). Join us for atlas training, birding, good company,
and an all around fun weekend! Saturday, we will work the Cannibal Plateau priority block where there
are opportunities to hike while atlasing. Sunday, we will work the North Pass priority block. We hope to
camp at Deer Lakes campground on Friday night and then move to the Lueders Creek area on Saturday
afternoon. Non-campers are welcome to meet us at 8 a.m. either day. Lori Brummer and Coen Dexter will
co-lead this blockbuster. Contact Lori

United States Nightjar Survey Network
The U.S. Nightjar Survey Network is recruiting volunteers to collect data on population distribution and trends of nightjars in Colorado and across the United States. This is a terrific opportunity to maximize your field efforts for the benefit of the Nightjars Survey Network as well as the Colorado Breeding Bird Atlas II project.
